About this collection, language and numbering
Sahih al-Bukhari is a collection of Hadith: reports about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his teachings and example. Hadith are distinct from Qur’an verses. Imam al-Bukhari compiled this work in the third Islamic century.
All 97 major books are available here in classical Arabic, including chains of transmission. The imported edition has 7,589 entries, including repeated narrations, decimal variants and combined reports; this is not a count of unique sayings. Edition numbers run from 1 to 7563. Major books (kitab) are different from individual subchapters (bab); the source does not supply subchapter headings.
Arabic transcription: Hadith API · ara-bukhari edition ↗. Unassigned book references are placed by the edition’s numbering sequence. Combined narrations are marked with their range. Numbering may vary between editions.
English study notes are short, original learning summaries, not full translations. A complete imported English edition is now available in our local English reader, distributed by IslamHouse with its source notices retained. The English edition uses different numbering. Sunnah.com links offer optional comparison reading. Read reports in context and ask a qualified teacher about personal rulings.
