01 · TAKE IT AT YOUR PACE

Your first visit

Contact a local mosque and ask when someone can welcome an explorer or a new Muslim. Explain that you are learning. Ask where to enter, where shoes are left, and which prayer area to use. Layouts, accessibility arrangements, and visiting hours vary.

02 · TAKE IT AT YOUR PACE

During a prayer

Follow the congregation’s guidance without feeling you must understand everything immediately. If observing, ask where to sit without interrupting worship. If participating, let a teacher show you the basics beforehand. Friday prayer has its own rules; ask what applies to you.

03 · TAKE IT AT YOUR PACE

Choose support thoughtfully

Look for someone patient, knowledgeable, and willing to explain evidence and recognised differences. Ask for a beginner class or mentor, including support suitable for women where needed. You can seek another qualified teacher if questions are dismissed or you feel pressured.
