Jalut and leadership

In the account of Talut’s army, Dawud killed Jalut. Allah gave him kingship, wisdom, and teaching. The narrative emphasises perseverance and victory by Allah’s permission.

The Zabur and praise

Allah gave Dawud the Zabur. Mountains and birds joined in praise; he was given skill concerning iron and armour. These gifts combine worship with useful work.

A test of judgement

Two disputants came to him. The account describes his judgement, recognition of a test, seeking forgiveness, and being told to judge justly without following desire. Later scandalous additions are not part of the cited passage.

Father and son

Sulayman was given to Dawud and praised as a servant who turned to Allah. Another passage describes a judgement involving a field, with understanding granted to Sulayman while both received wisdom.

A rhythm of devotion

An authentic hadith praises Dawud’s pattern of prayer and alternating days of fasting. This describes his practice, rather than a requirement for every learner to copy immediately.

Living from his own work

An authentic hadith names Dawud as someone who lived from the earnings of his own labour. This detail complements the Qur’anic account of his skill with iron and armour.
